These are very dark sapphires. The "diamonds" are almost invisible, but the earrings are still very pretty. I think it is a little odd that the earrings are done in yellow gold, since the petals where the diamonds are set are silver. Overall, it doesn't really matter. The earrings are tiny enough so that you hardly notice the yellow gold. Great Value! First of all the stones are Dark because Sapphire is Dark no matter what jeweler you go to. Second, they are a great size and they go great with anything! They are small, the diamonds are actually diamond chips set in triangular silver areas between the big, deep sapphires. Anyone wanting an elegant, sweet earring perhaps for a young girl would do well to order this product. 4 stars for the graceful setting- missing one star because of the tiny diamonds (but, hey, what would one expect for the price?)
